Meet the mind behind the black owned candle brand: "Celestial Acumen"

Merging Spirituality, Fashion and Candles in one

Witnessing an artist evolve and step into their purpose is a rewarding experience for sure, and Jake Peak's journey has been nothing short of spectacular. With over 12 years of experience in the fashion industry, Jake is a veteran designer, and if you've been paying close attention over the last decade, you may have seen his work on a runway. Even while achieving success in fashion though, his other passion was calling him. Jake Peak has been into African Religion and Spirituality for years, and specializes in making blessed handmade candles that he'd give to help family and friends. His family urged him to make it into a business and eventually the black owned candle shop Celestial Acumen was born.

"I started my e-commerce based business with my sister and the people really supported us, it really took off"

As a fashion designer, Peak views his design as a spiritual experience. His spirituality has been prevalent in a lot of his work as he's launched 4 different clothing lines in LA in the last 3 years. Jake is a priest or Tata Nkisi in an Afro Latin Tradition called Palo Mayombe. Combining his spirituality and fashion with his candle making ability made sense, but for Jake it took some convincing from the fam. "I resisted and solely focused on fashion for some time," He says. "This year during the pandemic my spirit felt it was time. So I started my e-commerce based business with my sister and the people really supported us, it really took off. In my first month alone we did over 30K in sales without any paid ads or marketing."

Jake Peak believes firmly that African spiritual tradition is the path to freedom and generational wealth. He views Celestial Acumen as not just a candle business but a way of empowering his community, as the candles teach folks how to get back to their roots. His products have received an overwhelmingly positive response, as testimonials have poured in from customers near and far. "Our business model is like the supreme of candles," Jake says. "We do drops every month & half to 2 months of brand-themed candles, they sell out and then we bring in all new candles scents purposes and themed collections."
"All of our candles are 100% organic wax organic essential oils and our wicks are mercury free"

The collection to check out right is the 70s themed Electric Soul collection that features products like the Dreamscape Ritual Candle, which serves as a remedy for Night terrors, sleep issues and more. "All of our candles are 100% organic wax organic essential oils and our wicks are mercury free," Jake says. "The burn time is over 130 hours, they’re quite large at 20 oz and we perfected the formula so that the scent fills an entire room because it's apart of the magic."

From designing at New York Fashion Week to launching his candle business, Jake Peak has excelled because he's always kept his spirit and purpose intact. Celestial Acumen is relatively new to the scene, but it's already began to make the kind of impact that Jake and his family envisioned. "This business not only changed my life , but we received sooo many testimonials from all the folks who've supported my brand," Jake says. "Out of all the business ventures that I've been apart of these candles are the most successful & the most well received."Check out what the hype is all about and shop the black owned candle shop Celestial Acumen here
