Pat Smith delivers music of the times with "The Covid Chronicles (Unplugged)"

A Soulful Acoustic EP worth listening to

When folks look back at these unprecedented times in some years, they'll see that it wasn't the conflicting stories in the media or the politicians that documented this time period accurately, it was the artists. A good song has a way of immortalizing exactly how we felt in a particular period in time, and with Pat Smith's EP "The Covid Chronicles (Unplugged)", he does just that. The four song project is an unflinching account of the times, and all of the angst and emotions that come with it. With this EP, Pat Smith rejects all the bells and whistles, delivering a gem that consists of just him and the music. "This Ep is an acoustic set, no punch-ins or re-recording of lines," He says.  "They are full takes of just me and the keyboard or me and the guitar."

The Covid Chronicles transcribes universal issues surrounding the pandemic, turning them into soulful, beautiful music. He starts the project with "KN95", where he shows some serious vocal range whilst pleading with the general public to mask up outside. The next joint, "Quarantine Bae", was our favorite though. In this track Pat Smith assesses the state of his relationship, as he's almost certain that the two will split when the world is off pause, and the pair's worldly pursuits will resume. In Quarantine Bae, and the project as a whole, Pat Smith captures exactly what it's felt like as an artist in the past few months. With madness and hysteria happening on the outside, we love, and we create while we can. And when we reflect on it all, we'll be sure to do so with projects like this one.
