Gritty Vibes Documentary: Khemestry is bringing Harlem BACK

Meet the talented trumpeter in this Jazz documentary

In a rapidly gentrifying NYC, witnessing a Harlem brownstone packed with twenty somethings of color is becoming more and more like spotting a UFO. Luckily Gritty Vibes was among the lucky bunch that day and with a camera in hand, we were able to immortalize the happenings and create the Jazz documentary below. The catalyst behind it all was a trumpeter by the name of Khemestry, a Harlem resident who invited friends and family to take in some tunes from him and his group "The Harlem Society." One by one, everyone in the room gave feedback, detailing exactly how it made them feel. The general consensus is that the tunes played that night transported us all back to the Harlem of old.

Harlem Jazz musiciansWe got to talk to Khemestry about his beginnings in the music industry, his early influences and his anticipated upcoming album "Where's my Basquiat?" The result is this eleven minute documentary below. Khemestry was nice enough to let us in his home, and his world to let us do what we do best.Enjoy the Jazz documentary below! Check out more Jazz content HERE
