Tayy Brown is a breakout STAR

The Maryland rapper is NEXT UP

With social media and YouTube serving as the great equalizers, record deals are no longer a necessity to gain a large following. This is something that Tayy Brown figured out, and when his smash hit “From Me” hit the streets, the Maryland rapper managed to put the world on notice by himself. “Seeing it grow was surreal”, He says. “It makes you hungry for more.”Maryland rapper

“I feel like if I can get here, then I can get further”

Tayy followed the track up with a number of other hits and eventually cemented his status as an up and coming star with his tape “Paint My Love”. Just released this month, the project has already eclipsed 200k streams on Spotify. The track mixes themes of violence and gang banging with vulnerability, showcasing an impressive melodic range along the way. His knack for musicality was perhaps first sparked by his pops, a musician who brought him to the studio often as a youth. As far as the gang banging? We’ll let Tay tell it: “I actually grew up in 15 minutes outside the city,” He says. “It was cool, I was raised by a single mother that worked hard to provide for me. I started hanging around the wrong people and started to go into the city a lot. That’s where I started gang banging and stuff like that.”
Nonetheless, Tayy Brown is the type of artist who knows his potential and exactly what he wants out the game. It is this kind of confidence that enabled him to take meetings with labels and stand his ground, opting to stay independent for now. He’s used this freedom to have full creative control for his projects which include a unique level of fan engagement. His fan base chose everything from the beats to the features and song choices on his latest tape.

“Seeing it grow was surreal. It makes you hungry for more.”

At this point, Tayy Brown has proven that he doesn’t need anyone else to make something pop. If he does decide to sit down with labels in the future though, one thing’s for certain: His price is going UP. “I feel like if I can get here, then I can get further”, He says. “I’m going to stick with working independent so I can have more leverage when I come back.” And when he does, just remember who told you first.
