From mugshots to headshots: Mekhi Alante Lucky is ON now

This model is established and not looking back

Whoever said crime doesn't pay was right, but with a name like "Lucky",  Mekhi Alante was bound to be the exception. The youngster had been arrested five times between December and April 2016, with the latest charge being speeding and driving in a stolen vehicle. After a routine mugshot, Lucky was jailed once again. Seemingly caught up in a perpetual cycle, his fate would change substantially with the help of Black Twitter. Photos of his headshot began to pick up steam on social media as his unique, mismatch eye colors took the nation on by storm. The color is a result of a condition called heterochromiairidum, which caught the attention of Demanti O’Bryant, founder of St. Claire Modeling. His career has been up ever since.Lucky has proven that he is more than just a unique commodity, as he's followed up his initial hype with some serious skills in front of the camera. O'bryant told the New York Post that "Mekhi naturally gets it. He feels comfortable and moves well in front of the camera." Without much practice, he's already proven to have a natural model walk, which he debuted in his first gig for Helmut Lang. Since then he's appeared on the cover for Arena Homme+ and contributed to Carine Roitfeld’s CR Fashion Book among a number of others. Most importantly, he's stayed out of trouble and is focused on being the next big thing. Mekhi Alante Lucky's story should be synonymous with redemption, and the proof of what the youth is capable of when finding an outlet where they can succeed. Jeremy Meeks, the original mugshot to riches story is also proof of that. Lucky would rather be mentioned in a class of his own though. "I don’t want to follow in Jeremy Meeks footsteps," He told Sun Online. "I don’t want to follow in anyone’s footsteps."
