Artist Profile: Darius Emerson
A promising artist out of the A
Inspiration can come from a number of sources, but oftentimes the people whom artists are around the most help shape them creatively. For Darius Emerson, the spark came from his Aunt. "The reason I create is because of the tours my aunt Helen Jackson would take me on at her job," He says. "She worked for Turner Studios." Emerson has been drawing since he can remember, but his recent creations with paint really caught our eye. His paintings often feature abstract themes and bright colors, along with a person of color at the center. When asked about how he balances his passion projects with the ones he gets paid for, Emerson kept it simple: "I do my best to put my all into everything," He says. "That’s from self directed work and also from the commissions I do." As evidenced in his most recent piece which makes a societal statement about police, the Atlanta native continues to push the envelope with his art. Emerson has his eye on a future career as an animator, preferably for none other than Cartoon Network. When he does make it, expect him to inspire the generation of creators that comes next, like Aunt Helen Jackson once did for him.
