Exclusive Interview: Amari Noelle Drops a Dope Visual for "Wait For Me"

A New R&B Artist to Remember

When an artist changes their stage name to their own name, what usually follows is a shift in the way their music is approached as well. We've seen it when Kdot became Kendrick Lamar, and here at Gritty Vibes, we've had the pleasure of watching Million$$Maddy become Amari Noelle. Under that name, she just released a brand new visual entitled "Wait For Me". In this beautifully shot video, the new r&b artist is singing more than ever before as she asks her lover to have patience with her.https://youtu.be/Yfp9Aj7wKKE

The Gary Indiana native comes from a family of creatives. As a child she'd watch her mother perform in musicals, events and church. Naturally, Amari Noelle gravitated towards the arts herself and after going the basketball route initially, she eventually decided to commit to it all the way. Fast forward to 2021, Amari Noelle is putting out her most polished work yet and it's only up from here. We chatted for a bit about her latest joint, and you can check it out in her own words below.

1. Congrats on dropping your new visual. What kind of space were you in creatively when you made "Wait for me"? What inspired the track?

i appreciate that. it’s definitely been a long time coming trying to find myself & my voice in my new profound space. creatively, i was in very vulnerable state. like the average young adult, going through relationship problems & honestly speaking,  not wanting my girl to leave lol. i’m not really a great communicator but that changes when i hear a beat. my grandpa died in april & one of my good friends in may so it kinda just changed me as a person, turned my emotions off completely, which resulted in me not being the best partner. all in all, life, self-reflection & my relationship inspired it.

2.You recently put your old name "Maddy" to rest. What does it signify to you to now go by Amari Noelle exclusively?

yeah mannnn, rip to maddy the great! i loved her & thankful for what she did for me. but it was time for me to think ICON. credit to my manager, he really inspired the change i wasn’t really comfortable at first but deep down in my heart i knew in order to be who i wanted to be as an artist changing my name was necessary. plus it’s my government name so it’s really not nothing new my mama call me that lol. i’m just finally excepting myself & showing her to the world.

3. This is the second collaboration we've seen between you and LVTRRAW. As a creative person yourself, what's it like linking up and working with them?

it’s a dope experience & chance for me to market myself as a real artist. before i was just doing the shit off the muscle & for fun but after linking with kev & LLTRAWW, it really made my dreams obtainable. very grateful for the opportunities, love, life lessons & the dope ass content we’ve made thus far.

4. What should we expect from you creatively going forward?

uhh, you can expect a lot of more singing & just emerging as an R&B artist. singing was secretly my first love so i’m excited to embark on this new journey and see how it’s perceived worldwide.
