UK Based Artist Laura Dia Makes a Statement with her Debut Song "What Now"

The talented artist blends Alternative R&B with Hip Hip and more

The best part about dropping our "Creatives to celebrate" lists is that we get to keep in touch with so many dope artists, many of whom go on to do great things. When we first featured the UK based Singer/songwriter Laura Dia on our 40 Black musicians to listen to list, she had yet to officially release a song on streaming platforms. Still, she shined as a talented vocalist and guitarist and we wanted to know more about the next steps for her as an artist. This October, she answered those questions with a bold debut release entitled "What Now". The song was written and produced by Laura Dia, and is a great introduction to her multi faceted sound. It incorporates Alternative R&B with Hip Hop and is laced with some of those great vocals that stopped us in our tracks in the first place.

Born in Nigeria, raised in southern Ireland and then Bristol, Laura's music carries the influence of many cultures/experiences existing within her creativity. With the help of her soulful vocal delivery, intricate harmonies and emotive lyrics, she creates an atmosphere of etherealism and intimacy within her music. Over the past year Laura has been developing her skills as a songwriter and producer, releasing original music on Soundcloud; she is now ready to share her creativity on a larger scale. "I wrote it to express just how deep one's attachment could be to another person and the feelings of disorientation after that is gone," Laura Dia says.
