Capturing Jamaica On Film: A Photo-series By the Editor

Film Photos from Jamaica Queens to Jamaica West Indies

Let's face it, after featuring so many of the best film photographers on this platform, it was only a matter of time before I went full hipster and ditched my digital camera to capture film photos myself. Similar to my shift to vinyl for music, film just has a certain quality that can't be replaced by any modern camera today. After a brief search of the best point and shoot film cameras, I landed on the Nikon One Touch L35AF2. I coupled that with some Ektar 100 and Kodak Ultramax 400 film and hit the town. The photos below start in Jamaica Queens, as I capture the everyday happenings in my neighborhood including Downtown Jamaica Jazz Festival. We shift to the city for a minute then head to the real Jamaica, where I managed to snap a few film photos on my vacation. I captured some dope Jamaican Artists, sunsets and whatever else I could get. Overall I'm satisfied with my first stab at film photography. If you're looking to get into it as well, I'd recommend the Nikon one touch for sure. Check out these photos below and keep an eye on this platform as I continue my film photography journey. Peace!
