CollegeBoyTrey drops a gem with DREAMLAND SAGA 2

The talented artist with an impressive follow up performance (EP review)

When we covered CollegeBoyTrey last year, we connected at a time in which the New Haven musician was coming into his own as an artist, and creating the kind of sound that truly captured his essence. His DREAMLAND SAGA was a uniquely themed project that caught our attention and had us wanting more. Now, he's returned with it's sequel DREAMLAND SAGA 2. While this project may carry over some of the signature aesthetics of last year's joint, what we're seeing this time around is an even more polished and confident offering from him.

EP review

CollegeBoyTrey came into DREAMLAND SAGA 2 with a simple theory: "My mindset going into every song is if it’s relatable, then it’s replayable," He says. "Since I wanted to focus on creating things that I wanted to hear, this project became therapeutic for me." The tracks are equally as therapeutic for the listener with CollegeBoyTrey showing a great knack for creating simple yet effective hooks. He takes relatable themes like the need for millions or a broken heart and flips them into catchy tunes.

"My mindset going into every song is if it’s relatable, then it’s replayable"

"The three main themes that I implemented into the sequel was dreams, nostalgia, and being relatable," He says. "Similarly to the first, this sequel follows a dream like pattern with the meaning slightly different." CollegeBoyTrey credits producer Yvng Cjay for helping inspire him during the pandemic, sending him beats that led to him creating the project. "Lastly, this vision is not complete without Nor Kin4Life, my friend & mixing engineer Ian,  and my friend Charlotte, my mastering engineer."
Throughout all that's went down this year, CollegeBoyTrey managed to reignite his creativity and deliver a followup to his breakout project. Check out the project in full below:
