$ee $antana impresses with her debut EP "4 to 4"

An impressive showing from the NYC Artist

$ee $antana is no stranger to the New York creative scene. She's spent years behind the scenes, even crossing paths with us here at Gritty Vibes from time to time. What we didn't know this entire time was that she is actually an amazing rapper and on her debut EP "4 to 4", she wasted no time proving it to us. In her first project, she shifts between flows and subject matter like a true veteran, quickly establishing herself as a name to keep an eye on going forward.

new rappers to listen to

$ee $antana grabbed our attention from track one with "$undown", a song that is equal parts catchy and lyrical. The song is loaded with clever moments from beginning to end, debuting a quick-fire flow that is all her own. By the time the tape ends with the chill banger "Print $hop", $ee $antana managed to showcase her versatility, wit and potential in all of eleven minutes.

debut EP

Recorded mostly with her phone during a wild point in her life, $ee $antana's debut EP came after ten years of recording music and keeping it to herself. As for the name and the theme behind the album, $ee says:
"A lot of people asked me why I have so many dollar signs throughout the titles of the songs and why I named it 4 to 4. I used to work late nights as a bartender from the hours of 4pm to 4am in the city and like many people trying to make it in New York, it always comes down to the bottom line: the dollar sign. That is where my head was at when I was making the music, struggling between making the music I wanted to make and continuing to make enough money to do the things I like to do and buy. It felt like I constantly had to choose one or the other. I had four songs I was completely happy with but had been sitting on for almost two years, so I decided to release them. I'm super grateful and happy that people have been enjoying the project so far and excited for what's to come."
"4 to 4" is a great tape to vibe to and more importantly, it's a monumental moment for the artist to share her art with the world. With a debut EP as well put together as this, we can only anticipate what she does next.
