Koyuki Panda is a name to remember in Manga and Anime

The creative speaks with Dope Manga

Growing up in a lower income section of The Bronx was not easy for Gigi Murakami but her ability to use art as a vehicle to escape is a major key in her success. Gigi, who goes by Koyuki Panda, found peace in her art, anime, manga, video games, Hollywood films and cinematic storytelling as a youth. Her inspirations include Katsuhiro Otomo, Christoper Nolan, Ari Aster, Darren Aronofsky, Quentin Tarantino and more. These days, she has established herself as a premier freelance illustrator and manga creator. She specializes in traditional ink, pencil and marker illustrations. “In those dark times, my passion and determination to be a great artist and creator never wavered." She says. "Not once. Circumstance has no say. I have the last word.” Koyuki Panda chatted with our friends at Dope Manga for episode 4 of their Cool Concept Podcast. They spoke about Black women in major studios, future projects, Anime & more. Check it out below. https://open.spotify.com/episode/2na1DiY1cbcVyBtrffo3QP?si=ITBvUBmoQ6-AvcPrBR5SCA
