Zachary Durham speaks about his upcoming EP "Love Through Lust"

The Brooklyn Musician has some fire on the way

When "Wave", the first track from Zachary Durham's  upcoming EP “Love Through Lust” starts off, the production is highlighted by his signature trumpet. What might surprise some though, is the melodic voice that accompanies it. In this project, the Brooklyn musician's instrumentation and vocals come together like magic, setting the tone for the kind of tunes we'll be talking about for months to come. The versatile sound and talent of Zachary Durham are on full display in the EP and on August 31st, the world will be put on notice.

The artist often referred to as the "Trumpet kid" got his start on the horn at age 13 at a high school music program and went on to be trained in classical and Jazz music. While he was a natural on the trumpet, it took a while to gain the confidence as an artist that he has today. "I used to always write verses to songs just as a hobby when I was a kid but I didn’t really have the confidence to be a full blown artist until I was about nineteen years old," He says. "I would say around 2017 people would actually come up to me and say 'hey you’re that trumpet kid I’ve seen you perform!” From there he's carved out a name on the NYC music scene, and built the kind of relationships with artists who have become collaborators on this project.

Zachary took a hands-on approach in the creation of "Love Through Lust", bouncing ideas and concepts with the producers to create the precise vibe. The result is a project in which he considers every song a treasure, highlighting moments like the third track “Replay The We Play”, and it's catchy hook as one of his favorite moments. While we await the EP,  Zachary is already in the process of finishing its successor, “Love Through Lust Vol.2”. If 2020 has taught him anything, it's the value of time, and to make the most of it as a creative. "Everything that’s been happening in the world reminded me that tomorrow isn’t promised to me," He says. "That way of thinking motivated me to put my best foot forward in making my music and to not hold on too long to my art."
Luckily the world won't have to wait much longer for Love Through Lust, streaming everywhere on August 31st.
