World Premiere! Vinny drops her debut single with the soulful "Gymp"
Philly's fast rising new talent
A musician going through a dark time emotionally can often be the origin of some truly groundbreaking artistry. For Vinny, the lost of a loved one was the spark which ultimately led to her beautifully executed latest song and visual "Gymp". The soulful ode to a lover uses tricky wordplay throughout to compare her affection to one of her childhood hobbies. "Since a young girl I was the kid involved with all the arts & crafts and Gimp was always something that I loved to do," She says. The idea of being able to weave your own pattern out of string was very intriguing and still is. I decided to take my love for Gimp and use it as a metaphor for love. In the song I say 'Head in a knot and my four limbs weave my own pattern around him". The song and its accompanying visual could be a sign of what's to come for Vinny, who is set to drop her first project in the near future. Check it out below!https://youtu.be/tiNr1jOwCV8Vinny pulls inspiration from her own life and has the sound of an artist in tune with all of her senses. Musically, she cites a number of legends as sources of inspiration. "I was influenced by bands like Chaka Khan & Rufas, Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac," She says. "Their influence definitely helped with shaping the sound and direction of GypsyFunk." The upcoming project will feature vibrant, soulful singing along with inflections of Gypsy Jazz & 70s funk. With instrumentalists like Mollie Rose, H.Luke Anderson and Yesseh Furrah Ali, expect a sultry dose of strings and horns throughout, along with Vinny herself playing away at the Tambourine. Describing herself as a very spiritual person, Vinny's faith is what keeps her grounded, focused and away from negativity. Life is never perfect though and her ability to be vulnerable through her art is what makes her so promising."Every experience good or bad effects my music," She says. "The project overall has a very free gypsy feel to it and the search for love, and declaring self awareness is very present."IG: @VINCENA
